Hosted beside RSPB Minsmere, one of Britain's most celebrated bird reserves, Like a Bird invites participants to slow down, look closely, listen deeply and draw in response to the lives, movements and murmurs of birds. Minsmere's reedbeds, marshes, lagoons and coastline provide a rich habitat for avocets, bitterns, marsh harriers, terns, warblers and many migrant species.
Through guided drawing activities, birdwatching walks and shared creative practice, we will explore drawing as a way of tuning in — to birds, to place, and to our own ways of seeing.

Drawing Room - Like a Bird
Drawing Residency & Exhibition
April 8th - 13th, 2024

This two week residency In Manhattan gallery explored theories and practices of creative collaboration, culminating in a Private View (PV) event on Saturday April 13th at 2:00 PM hosted by Angie Brew and fellow New York artists. The residency and exhibition offered a opportunity to engage with Brew's work firsthand and connect with fellow artists and drawing practitioners. The final exhibition showcased Brew's latest creations and collaborations, including All the Birds, Murmur, A Little Bird Told Me, The Amber Tree, WeDraw, Drawing Conversations and Drawing Circles. Her art practice uses drawing as a way to tune in to ourselves and connect with one another and our earth. Brew shared her collaborative drawing methods and current projects and ran collaborative drawing workshops during the two weeks, including Drawing to Problem Solve, Sensory drawing, Drawing Growth, Drawing Conversations and DoBeDo.
Brew aims to amplify the urgent alarm call of the world's birds, by tapping in to the power of drawing.
Participating residents shaped the final display of collaborative artwork on April 13th and the catalogue of the residency.
50% of all sales from the exhibition were donated to bird rescue charities.
